Bio

Todd is a general practice attorney with focuses in family law, civil and criminal litigation and education law.  Todd is one of the few attorneys in Northeast Ohio practicing education law as a parent’s advocate, representing clients (often special needs children) and their families through consultations and representing them at Individualized Education Plan team meetings, mediations, expulsion hearings, Manifestation Determination Reviews, Department of Education Due Process hearings, and federal court.  Todd advocates for each child's right to receive the free and appropriate public education (FAPE), guaranteed under state and federal law.

 

Todd received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1992 from Bradley University and his law degree (J.D.) in 1998 from The University of Akron.  He was admitted to practice in all courts of Ohio in 1999 and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio in 2001.

 

Professional Activities Todd’s membership activities include the Stark County Bar Association, the Akron Bar Association (where he held Committee Chair and Vice Chair positions), and the Council of Parent Advocates and Attorneys. Todd also belongs to the Ohio State Bar Association and is the current Juvenile Law Committee Chair.  He is an active member of the Stark County Association of Realtors serving on their Affiliates and Governmental and Legislative Affairs Committees.  He is a frequent contributor to the Stark Trumbull Area Realtors’ newsletter.  He frequently teaches continuing legal education to fellow attorneys and speaks to various civic and professional organizations.  Additionally, he serves as a Guardian Ad Litem in family law matters.  Todd also received mediation training, through the Ohio Supreme Court, Dispute Resolution Section and is and is an officer in the OSBA Dispute Resolution Committee .

 

Community Activities

Todd has an abiding commitment to the communities of Northeast Ohio. His volunteer activities have included participation in various community theaters in NE Ohio (Weathervane Playhouse, Shakespeare at Stan Hewytt, Coach House Theatre, Main Course Murders, Murder With Reservations).  He has also served on the following boards: Commissioner at Large for Boy Scouts of America, Old Portage District, Great Trail Council; YMCA Camp Y-Noah, Advisory Board; Tree City / Kent Stage Players.  He is a member of AmSpirit Business Connections, the North Canton, Canton Regional and Green Area Chambers of Commerce (Board of Director’s 2020-Present, Treasurer 2021-Present), and serves on the Advisory Board for the Akron School for the Arts, the Delta Tau Delta, Kent State University Chapter (Delta Omega) Advisory Board and Housing Corporation. He additionally serves on Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity’s Standing Committee on Corporate Governance.

Faith is also vitally important to Todd. He is an active member at Temple Israel Canton, where he serves as Vice President for the Temple Brotherhood and served in his previous congregation as a Sunday School teacher, Alternate Cantorial Soloist, and member of the Temple worship band. “Schulhouse Rock” (guitar, bass & vocals).

He currently resides in Stark County with his family.
