Bio

At Carpenter Family Law, we fight to put the law into your corner. We are dedicated to understanding what results you want and to helping you understand what actions we can take on your behalf. We will work with you every step of the way to make sure that you understand the choices you are making and feel empowered to make them.

After earning her B.A. from Purdue University, Kendra attended paralegal school at the Capital University Law School.  She spent several years in the professional world before she returned to Capital where she earned her law decree, magna cum laude and was awarded the Order of the Barrister and Order of the Curia.

She is certified as a family law specialist by the Ohio Bar Association and has earned other accolades including: Forty Under 40, Columbus CEO Top Attorneys in Family Law, and Ohio Super Lawyer.

Before opening her own firm, Kendra first worked as a business litigation associate at a large national law firm.  It is this experience that sets her apart from her peers.  She is able to identify other issues that arise out of family law matters and protect her clients from consequences that others may not have contemplated.  She is grateful for the excellent mentoring she has received from distinguished attorneys at the top of their fields, and she strives to pay that forward to the new generation of graduates.

Kendra stays apprised of the changing laws and attends many continuing legal education programs throughout each year.  She is a member of the American Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association and is a graduate of the OSBA Leadership Academy. Also, she provides pro bono hours to several non-profit organizations.

She is licensed in the State of Ohio, The United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Sixth and Eleventh Circuits, and the United States District Courts of the Northern District of Ohio, Southern District of Ohio and Southern District of Indiana.  She is also certified by the Ohio Supreme Court as a custody guardian ad litem and a parenting coordinator.  She believes that parents should start off on equal footing and that it is in the best interest of every child to have the support and love of both parents without exclusion by the other.

Kendra grew up in the Miami County area and later moved to Columbus after graduating from college.  Upon graduating from Law School, she met and briefly dated her now husband John. They married 14 years later and are parents of four-legged children.  Though hundreds of miles apart, the two were born on the same day, month, and year.

She is the proud daughter, granddaughter, and great granddaughter of army veterans who served in the Korean Conflict, World War II and World War I.
