I am dual certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, accredited by the American Bar Association, and as a Specialist in Elder Law by the Ohio State Bar Association. I am one of eighteen attorneys with this dual certification. I devote my practice to those issues uniquely affecting the elderly, the disabled and their families.
Having been raised by a parent with early onset Parkinson's Disease, and having witnessed a grandparent spend over sixteen years in a nursing facility suffering from Alzheimer's, I gravitated early in my career towards the practice of elder and disability law. I established my Law Firm after leaving the Ohio Appellate Court with the goal of assisting those in need navigate the maze of planning options to obtain optimal care while maximizing available resources.
The Firm is now comprised of five attorneys who collectively have over fifty years experience working exclusively in the fields of elder law and estate planning. Each attorney brings his or her own experience and talents to the practice. For instance, Claudia Rose Brown holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Case Western Reserve and has served as case worker for the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging. Kathy Cline, LSW, GCM, is a Certified Elder Care Coordinator for our Life Care Planning Services.
I am the Editor of the fourth and fifth editions of the Elder Law Handbook published by the OSBA, authoring the chapter on Medicaid. I serve as an Officer for the Elder Law Committee of the OSBA, and am a former Board Member for the Ohio Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
I am a regular volunteer speaker for the Alzheimer's Assoc. and lecturer to legal, financial, health and tax professionals. Free CEUs and community talks are offered.
I am accredited by the VA to prepare, present and prosecute claims for veteran’s benefits.
