Good morning,
The American Bar Association and PSLF Coalition are seeking stories from lawyers who have received a discharge of their loans through Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). Specifically, they are looking for examples of the impact these attorneys/positions have in their communities. For example:
- Attorneys serving in public defender, prosecutor, legal aid, child welfare, or other public service roles that are difficult to recruit for or chronically vacant;
- Lawyers working in rural, underserved, or high-need communities where student debt relief has made long-term service feasible;
- Examples of concrete community impact, such as improved access to counsel, continuity of representation, reduced case backlogs, or services that would otherwise not be available;
- Stories that reflect how PSLF helped someone choose public service over a higher-paying alternative or remain in a position they otherwise could not have sustained financially.
This information is for educational purposes but may be shared with members of Congress to highlight the impact of the program within their districts.
If you are interested in sharing your story, please email me directly at mmyers@ohiobar.org.
