Reminder: we're less than a week away from the next Public Service Attorneys Committee meeting! It's scheduled for Thursday, April 16 from 12:00-1:30. There's still time to register!
The meeting will feature 1 hour of general CLE credit.
Ethical Issues Unique to Representing Government; presented by Paul Nick, Ohio Ethics Commission Executive Director
This CLE was designed to outline the Ohio Ethics Law, ORC 102.03, 2921.42, and 2921.43 specifically for public practice attorneys, including information regarding conflicts of interest, gift restrictions, public contract prohibitions, and post-employment requirements. This course will not only summarize the Ohio Ethics Law, but it will also present helpful advisory precedent to assist public practice attorneys in their guidance to public entities and its officials.
Additionally, we have some Ohio Bar members working on proposed changes to the vexatious litigator statute that would allow for filings of vexatious public records requester litigation. This is in the context of House Bill 314, regarding a similar subject matter. A first draft is attached, and we would like this committee's feedback. We will plan to discuss at the meeting next week or you can email me with your thoughts directly (mmyers@ohiobar.org).
Meeting agenda and materials
Looking forward to a jam-packed meeting!
